At the celebration, the Country Director of the foundation; Mr Dekyem Henry in his speech explained the reason for setting up the ICT and vocational/technical training center as it is the objective of the foundation to uplift the lives of the people by giving them the opportunity to attain the requisite skills to fit into today’s job market. He also made mention of a few other projects that are still in the planning stages and once feasibility studies are completed, they will also be implemented. One of such projects is the development of the Tinkong football pitch to an ultra modern facility and also the organization of all year round sporting events where scouts and other well known sports people will be invited to.

Another is the plan to help small scale businesses expand and grow by giving them soft , flexible loans. He mentioned that these projects are for the people and so urged them to take full advantage of them, from the clinic to the school to every other project the foundation is undertaking.

After that, the chief of Tinkong, Nana Wontumi Topera IV also gave a speech urging and encouraging the people to not let any of the projects become a white elephant, He said Nana Kwadjo Siaw (Albert Van Beek) is heaven sent and so for all that he is doing for the people, the least they could do is to patronize and take full advantage as that is all he seeks.

The speeches were followed by a sword cutting ceremony as the 5 classroom block with 2 offices were finally opened to the public. Of the 5 classrooms, 2 has been fully furnished with computers which are ready for use by the students from the 8 schools mentioned earlier. Plans are also far advanced to soon start the Vocational and Technical training side of the school.

The ICT center is opened to the schools and each school can come and access the facility once every week.foto07

Later, a training workshop will be done for both staff of the Foundation and the teachers from the schools to equip them with the knowledge to use smart boards which will be used to teach the ICT at the center.
